These small-group (max 6 students) in-person classes who are serious about learning to audition and work on set. In all Biz Studio classes, instructors choose scenes individually for each student, and students have the opportunity to give input on the kind of material they want to work on. Unlike other acting schools, students work in Biz classes is done on camera using actual scripts from professional film and television auditions. It’s important to us to run very small classes, so we can support (and challenge) each student appropriately. Although many working actors take our classes, no experience is needed to join, only a willingness to learn, practice and play.
INTRO TO ACTING ON CAMERA CLASS: Students learn and practice the on-camera technique and acting skills needed for auditions and working on-set. Students can expect to work on progressively challenging Film & TV scenes in a variety of styles. Students get a lot of individual focus, support, and feedback, and receive weekly videos of how their on-camera skills are progressing.
PROFESSIONAL AUDITION CLASS: For experienced students who already have on-camera training and who are ready to dive deeper into complex characters and nuanced performances. Students can expect to work on progressively challenging Film & TV scenes in a variety of styles. Students get a lot of individual focus, support, and feedback, and receive weekly videos of how their on-camera skills are progressing.
1 DAY INTRO BOOTCAMP: For students new to Biz, a crash course in the way that we approach acting on camera. Class will be a mix of on-camera exercises and script work, and will cover acting and audition techniques for commercials, film and television. A helpful overview for students new to on-camera work, and a useful primer for students new to Biz.
GETTING A TALENT AGENT: Free info session, available to Biz students registered for January-March classes and workshops. Date TBD.
2 WEEK ACTING ON CAMERA INTENSIVE: Intensives are a fantastic way for students to internalize new skills by doing a deep dive, getting notes, and coming right back and doing it again the next day. Over the two weeks students will work intensively on audition and acting skills, exploring practice scripts from real auditions and working towards a deeper understanding of story, character, and hopefully themselves. All of the acting work is recorded on-camera, including multiple “mock auditions”, and the week will culminate in a “mock callback” and workshop with a local film and television casting director.
