Tall, mature sounding and acting girl to play a 12 yr. old in “Upside Down Halos”, put on by the Kerrisdale Community Centre’s comedy troupe, “Characters”. The show is approximately one hour & is an original script. She’s not stupid, but she’s less interested in book smarts and more interested in being crafty. She says she wants to be a Broadway actress, but worries she’ll end up married to a wealthy guy and live in the suburbs with weekly beauty appointments like her mom.

STORYLINE:

ZJ is a satirical comedy in the style of Monty Python or Invader Zim. The story follows two girls stuck in an education system which operates very similarly to a federal penitentiary. As it turns out Jesus is around, undercover and working secretly to combat evil across the globe. Jesus gives the girls hope and a plan as to how they can escape the torment of childhood and aspire to greatness and promote change. Shot on location with the help of the Vancouver board of Education.

STORYLINE:

Rainbow John’s eclectic mindscape streams out one of his most vivid psychedelic memories of his metaphysical quest on becoming a knowledge-seeking Fluid Druid, once the world he once knew crumbles beneath him.

CHARACTERS:

Atlas (Supporting): Male, 6-12. The youngest son of Rainbow John and Rosy, he is a very creative and imaginative boy that is able to experience euphoria with the simplest pleasures of life, such as his favorite toy truck. However, he is too young to fully comprehend the stress that is permeating throughout his deteriorating family, and therefore, looks up to his older brother Percy and his father for guidance.

Percy (Supporting): Male, 8-14. The eldest son of Rainbow John and Rosy, he is more attentive to his surroundings than Atlas, yet is too young to understand the full implications of his mother being with another man. He often tries to be a supportive role-model to Atlas, and constantly looks up to his father for knowledge of the world around him.

CHARACTERS:

Piper (lead): Female, late teens. Having just graduated from high school and never been in a relationship, she often dresses ridiculously over-the-top to impress boys and endlessly talks about boys. Her ideal man is the perfect Prince Charming but her fear of growing up causes her to be childish and immature.

Lexie (lead): Female, late teens. Similar to Piper with a few more broken hearts in her past but she’s toughened up her skin since then. Different from Piper, Lexie chooses to be more intellectual and strays away from conversation topics of boys. She’s pretty and does not feel the need to dress to impress; she just wants a man to love her back.

Ray (principal): Male, late teens-early 20’s. An imaginary figure in Piper’s and Lexie’s dream. He embodies their ideal man but all he will ever be is a figment of their imagination.
