STORYLINE:
A mother walks with her young child up to a Humane Society location. However, the child has a collar around its neck, and is being lead by its mother on a leash. They reach inside the building and the mother goes up to the reception. She declares how (her child) he/she is NOT what she wanted, he’s not potty trained, he messes up my apartment etc and that I am leaving him here! The worker obliges and leads the mother and child into where the pens are kept. The child is put into a pen (much like a dogs pen) and the door is shut and the mother simply walks away without a care for her child. The child is left alone and scared about why he is being left behind. Text appears on screen: “You wouldn’t do this to your child, so don’t do it to your pet” Further text appears: “Please research before adopting a pet.” This is a commercial we wish to produce for the Humane Society of BC. In making it we hope to make people aware that you need to research and make sure the pet you want is right for you – and make sure that it is the right time for you to get a pet.
CHARACTERS:
Ben/Sarah: Male or Female, Age 10. A child being abandoned at a Humane Society like pets sometimes are. It is an emotional role so it would be best if the child has had experience with acting and can handle the emotions within the scene. (Being abandoned by a mother).
