“Dreams are free. Goals have a cost. While you can daydream for free, goals don’t come without a price. Time, effort, sacrifice and sweat. How will you pay for your goals?” -Usain Bolt, Olympic sprinter, nine time gold-medalist, eleven time world champion
For experienced performers looking for a more intense and focused training environment. Students are assigned a new on-camera scene each class. We use small class sizes (max of 6 students) and a personalized curriculum to ensure that each actor is challenged appropriately. Class focuses on exploration, and building the actor’s depth and range. Class includes script analysis, on-camera scene study, audition practice, and technique exercises. Video from class is uploaded to the website so you and your agent can track your progress. Instructors are all veteran teachers and working actors, led by Biz Studio founder and head coach Michael Bean and teacher Leanne Lapp. Many actors study with us over a course of several years, working on progressively more sophisticated material.
How To Register: Participation is by audition or invitation only. Contact Us to arrange an audition. Students in the On-Camera Scene Study classes are expected to be able to 100% memorize multiple pages of text, to have a clear understanding of story and character, to be able to give a naturalistic/believable read, and be able to take direction (i.e. alter some aspect of the performance if asked to do so). Once approved for the class, new students should fill out our Registration Form. To confirm your registration in any class or workshop click the “register now” button to pay with a credit card via PayPal, or call (604) 801-7050 with your credit card info. Plans may change? No problem! Students who cancel a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of the class will be refunded 100% of their course fee.
Summer Intensives are all mixed-level, twenty hours a week, four hours a day, with lots of time to workshop material on-camera, and instructors choosing appropriately challenging material specifically for each student (i.e. newer students may be assigned a 1-2p actor/principal role audition script, experienced students may be assigned a 5-9p guest star/recurring audition script). See www.bizstudio.ca/teensactingclassses for registration links.
