Confidence on Camera Kelowna

Confidence on Camera is a comprehensive full-day workshop in acting technique, audition technique and on-camera skills. The small group (12 students max) spends the first half of the day working scenes on stage in a professional theatre, the 326-seat Mary Irwin theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. In the second half, students work the same scenes on camera to practice camera technique and audition skills. An audience of parents and auditors adds a level of professional intensity to all of the work, and gives students the chance to experience success in a professional environment. Students will be assigned a 2-4 page scene, and partnered with another student of similar age and experience level. Instructor Michael Bean is Owner and Head Coach at Biz Studio, and a working actor.

This class is intended as ongoing skill building, equivalent to the kind of professional workshop taken by many adult actors working in film+tv. Each class is individually tailored to the needs of the students in that class, and returning students always start from wherever they finished at the end of the previous session. Progress in acting, like in any professional skill, is incremental. Our goal at Biz Studio is to demand the highest level of performance from our students, while still encouraging their love of acting by balancing discipline with fun. We are passionate about good acting. And fun.

Biz Studio is like an acting boot camp for kids. They are energized with acting work, professionals from the business and the results are staggering. I often come away from working with a class having seen new and wonderful talent I bring into my audition room immediately. Michael Bean is brilliant.

Tuedon is loving the class and has oodles of new tips to tell me about everyday. It seems that you are having a lot of fun too. That’s great! it wears off on the kids. Her agent Dyan has been watching the videos and is impressed with Tuedon’s improvement. Thank you, you’re doing a fabulous job.”
