Upcoming Workshops: Summer TBA

Confidence on Camera is a crash course in acting, audition and camera technique, led by Michael Bean, owner and head coach at Biz Studio. Actors spend four hours per day working in the studio in a simulated audition environment, working on real audition scripts. This is professional screen acting, not just theatre games.

Class includes audition technique, acting technique and camera technique, in both on-camera exercises and scene study. Students will be assigned a 1-2 page scene from a recent film & television script to prepare for the class. All work is on camera, and video from the class will be posted to a private page on www.bizstudio.ca so students can watch and evaluate their work (and share it with friends, family, and talent agents).

Past workshops have included a 2hr workshop with Calgary-based casting director Deb Green. In recent years Deb has done casting for Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning “Brokeback Mountain,” Brad Pitt’s “The Assassination of Jesse James,” Gary Burns’ “Radiant City” and CBC mini-series “Everest’82″, plus a score of independent productions, television series and commercials.

Instructors

The Confidence on Camera workshop is taught by Biz Studio owner and head coach Michael Bean, with a special guest workshop from Calgary based casting director Deb Green. In addition to teaching, Michael is a working actor with recent appearances alongside Jude Law in “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,” Jennifer Aniston in “Love Happens” and Jennifer Connelly in “The Day The Earth Stood Still.” Deb Green is a Calgary based casting director with more than two decades of involvement in the film industry.

Skill Level

The Confidence on Camera intensive is designed for mixed skill levels, and class size is kept small to ensure that every student is being challenged appropriately. Although we have many working actors studying with us, no experience is required to participate in one of our acting programs.
