Here’s an interesting one — another big(ish) US feature putting out the call far and wide to find an actor with just the right look and/or ethnicity for their movie. Since this is a lead role they can cast a Canadian if they need to. Good luck with it! -Michael Bean, Head Coach, Biz Studio

Here’s an ambitious offering from the Vancouver Film School. A student film with a large cast and epic storyline like this one will be great if the film student running the show has talent and resources to match his ambition, and otherwise it’ll be terrible. Let’s hope it’s the first one! -Michael Bean, Head Coach, Biz Studio

Here’s an ambitious independent feature that’s been looking for actors for the last couple of months. That’s not necessarily a bad sign–getting an indie film made takes a lot of time and energy, and because indies can rarely pay their actors it’s also pretty normal for the shoot dates to change to accomodate the lead actor(s). -Michael Bean, Head Coach, Biz Studio

This is another opportunity for anyone who speaks Dari or Pashto (Afghan languages) to pick up an amazing opportunity to work with Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts & Philip Seymour Hoffman. If you know someone who fits the description, pass this audition notice along even if they’re not an actor. It looks to me like they’re having enough trouble finding native Dari and Pashto speakers that they’ll consider anyone who can. -Michael Bean, Head Coach, Biz Studio

Here’s an interesting way to get a few clips for your reel–this VFS film has no dialogue, just images. Normally I recommend avoiding “experimental” films because the clips are too “arty” to use on your demo reel, but in this case the film looks straightforward enough that you should be able to get 30seconds of useable material. Plus three days on set shooting the film, of course. Enjoy! -Michael Bean, Head Coach, Biz Studio
